Police are treating a hearth that burned via 5ha of bush on the Kāpiti Coast as suspicious.
Firefighters had been alerted to the blaze, inland from Ōtaki Seashore, simply after 5pm on Saturday.
It burnt via heavy scrub and might be seen from as distant as Paraparaumu – a distance of 14km.
Police stated firefighters discovered two youngsters trapped within the bush.
They had been in a position to help the boys to security “via tough terrain”.
The teenagers, each 17, had been now helping legal inquiries and could be referred to Youth Companies, police stated.
