Laura Lynch, a founding member of the nation group the Dixie Chicks, has died. She was 65.
The Texas Division of Public Security stated Lynch was killed in a head-on collision in Fort Price on Friday night.
“Laura was a vibrant gentle…her infectious vitality and humor gave a spark to the early days of our band,” the group — who modified their identify to the Chicks in 2020 — stated in a press release Saturday. “Laura had a present for design, a love of all issues Texas and was instrumental within the early success of the band. Her plain skills helped propel us past busking on avenue corners to levels all throughout Texas and the mid-West. Our ideas are together with her household and family members at this unhappy time.”
Lynch co-founded the music group alongside Robin Lynn Macy, Martie Erwin, and Emily Erwin in 1989. She started as an upright bassist for the band and later took on the position of lead vocalist.
The group’s first album “Thank Heavens for Dale Evans” was launched in 1990. The group launched two extra albums with Lynch — “Little Ol’ Cowgirl” in 1992 and “Should not a Advised You That” in 1993.
Lynch left the group in 1993 and was changed by singer and guitarist Natalie Maines.
