A spokesperson of Japanese Railways stated a truck laden with sand got here in entrance of the practice, as per a report in Hindustan Instances.
“The incident occurred round 1.25 am when a lorry rammed right into a stage crossing gate between Dhulianganga and Ballalpur in Murshidabad and got here in entrance of the practice. 4 wheels of the engine acquired derailed and the engine caught fireplace,” the spokesperson stated.
The practice departed from Kolkata on Sunday night and was heading in direction of Radhikapur in Uttar Dinajpur district in north Bengal when the accident occurred. “A particular practice was organized to move the stranded passengers to Radhikapur,” the spokesperson additional stated.
