The Police Service of Northern Eire has begun a homicide investigation following the dying of a person in his 60s in Kilkeel, Co Down.
A lady can be being handled for head accidents following an incident at a property within the Newcastle Highway space.
A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of homicide and tried homicide.
Police stated cordons would stay in place within the space as their investigations proceed and added it was not being handled as a firearms-related incident.
Det Chief Insp Anthony Kelly stated: “Police obtained a report of a priority for security for a pair at a property within the Newcastle Highway space of the city shortly after 12.50pm immediately.
“On arrival, officers situated the physique of a person who was unconscious and never respiration.
“A lady, aged in her 60s, was additionally inside the home with severe head accidents.
“Medical therapy was supplied to the lady on the scene – and he or she has since been taken to hospital for therapy to her accidents.
“She stays in a steady situation at the moment.
“The person was sadly pronounced deceased on the scene.”
He added: “At roughly 2pm, officers detained and arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of homicide and tried homicide.
“He stays in custody at the moment, helping officers with their inquiries.”
Mr Kelly stated police inquiries stay ongoing to find out what occurred.
