Yadav on January 19 filed an affidavit within the apex court docket withdrawing his alleged “Gujarati thugs” comment.
The highest court docket, whereas listening to the RJD chief’s plea, had earlier stayed the proceedings within the felony defamation criticism and issued discover to the Gujarat resident who had filed it.
The criticism in opposition to Yadav was filed underneath sections 499 and 500 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for alleged felony defamation.
The Gujarat court docket had in August performed a preliminary enquiry in opposition to Yadav underneath part 202 of the Code of Prison Process and located enough grounds to summon him on the criticism filed by Haresh Mehta, a neighborhood businessman and activist.
